13 Aug The Madame’s Bone Oracle Reading 08.13.20

The Spirits chose MASK, SUN, and HEART from The Madame’s Bone Oracle this morning.
Today’s message is about being true to yourself. MASK is about illusion and deception. This meaning of MASK isn’t always in a malicious sense (though it can be) – today it carries a message of self-delusion. The SUN is about revelation and illumination – the illusion being revealed. HEART is our emotional needs. We’ve all had to play the chameleon to survive certain times in our lives. We may have hidden parts of ourselves to get through particular situations or experiences when we felt it was unsafe to be unapologetically ourselves. Sometimes we are aware when we put on the MASK, and other times the MASK slides over our face imperceptibly. Have you ever been in a group of people speaking badly of someone , knowing what was being said was untrue, but you kept quiet, allowing them to think you were the same as them to keep from turning their wrath upon yourself? Have you ever had a job that required you to turn off your emotions to accomplish your work because you really needed the money? Have you ever hidden your true feelings in a relationship to maintain that relationship for fear of being alone? You donned the MASK in those situations for self preservation. And what was the result of wearing the MASK? You probably felt like an imposter, a fraud, drained, exhausted, anxious, depressed, and all together unwell. And the longer you wear the MASK, the more detached from the true version of yourself you become. The Spirits are telling us the farther from ourselves we become, the more unwell we become. They are acknowledging that not everyone deserves nor needs to see the depths of your true self, and that you are the only one who decides when and if the MASK is of value to you. But when we don’t recognize when the MASK slides over our own face – when the illusion becomes second nature – it’s time to evaluate why we feel the need for the MASK. Is that job or that relationship worth the effort of keeping up the facade? Maybe it’s time to find people and places where you can just be yourself – the self that doesn’t require herculean effort to maintain. The Spirits are sharing the words from Hamlet by the great Willie Shakes: “This above all: to thine own self be true”.
